This is a blend of black loose leaf teas to create a Lapsang Souchong that is both deep and smoky but silky and light.
It lies between the rich texture and heady aroma of our Tarry Lapsang and the elegant subtleties of our Rare Lapsang Souchong.
It can be enjoyed with or without milk.
The smoky aroma is bold enough to fill the kitchen, yet the brew itself feels surprisingly smooth and light on the palate. I've been reaching for this every evening since it arrived—it's exactly the middle ground I was hoping for between heavy tar and plain black tea.
The smoky depth is definitely there, but it's so silky and light that it doesn't clobber your senses—perfect for an afternoon cup. Brewed it for three minutes and the flavor stayed smooth right to the last sip.
I usually find smoked teas too aggressive, but this one’s got that silky lightness that lets the smoky notes linger without overpowering. The depth is there, yet it brews up surprisingly smooth and mellow.
