A deliciously buttery and mellow green sencha loose leaf tea from Japan. A delicate and bright first flush that is steamed for longer than a more common asamushi sencha to accentuate the smoother notes of the leaf.
I've been brewing this every morning since it arrived, and the deep steaming really does make a difference — it's buttery and mellow without any of that grassy bite I usually get from sencha. The flavor stays smooth even as it cools, which never happens with my old stash.
The first sip is practically silky, that buttery note hits right away and lingers just enough to make you slow down. I brewed it at 70°C and got three solid, mellow cups before it faded. This is the green tea I’ll be reaching for every morning now.
The longer steaming really does bring out that mellow, bright character—I brewed a cup right after the bag arrived and it was like liquid spring. Even the second steep kept its delicate sweetness, which surprised me for a first flush tea.
